Observe how the embroidery stitches come to life, highlighting the craftsmanship through multiple exposure scanning and 3D effects. The multiple exposures enhance the colour depth of each stitch.

3D Surface effects

Explore with a simple slide the power of the HD Apeiron/42 3D lighting effects. Bring to life the surface textures of artwork with paint strokes or the fibres of fabric. Change your perception in a totally new way and re-create your media as if hanging on an exhibition wall and lit from above – both online and in print. The following examples show no 3D effect vs +100% 3D effect and with both LED lamps set in the down position.

Orange Painting

Orange painting - Acrylic with gloss on canvas

This test painting features thick layers of acrylic paint on a coarse canvas. The black acrylic paint is blended with a glossy medium, intensifying its natural sheen and luminosity but also increasing susceptibility to reflections. Observe how the HD Apeiron/42 seamlessly handles both the black paint and reflections.

Cups

Cups - Acrylic paint and fine liner pens on canvas

When printed on a very fine canvas, this ‘Cups’ artwork exhibits a smooth, nearly flat surface without a 3D effect. Introducing a 3D effect enhances the painting by emphasising the strokes of paint along the cup’s edge and infusing vitality into the solid yellow background.

Guatemalan Huipil

Guatemalan huipil - Embroidered textile

This embroidered textile vividly demonstrates how the incorporation of a 3D effect can transform an otherwise flat-looking material, imbuing it with dynamic textures and captivating depth that enriches its visual appeal.

Single Colour Originals

Scanning seemingly black-and-white originals in colour can significantly enhance the resulting image, adding vibrancy and subtle variations that may not be visible in a standard black-and-white scan.

This technique captures the nuances of the original material, making the image appear more dynamic and engaging. Additionally, opting for a slight 3D effect can further enrich the visual experience by creating a sensation of depth.

Hairdo

Hairdo - Fineliner on paper

While the numerous pen strokes create a 3D-like effect on the strands of hair in this drawing, the 3D effect in HD Apeiron/42 also enhances the depth of the paper itself.

Scanner settings are 600 dpi with both lamps down and the 3D effect set at +60.

Reflective, Shiny & Metallic Surfaces

HD Apeiron/42 offers four different lighting angle options, ensuring optimal scanning conditions for shiny or partially shiny originals.

This flexibility allows you to adjust the lamp position to eliminate glare and capture all the details, regardless of the reflective nature of the material. With these versatile lighting settings, you can achieve a high-quality scan every time.
